Quilt blocks

I have finished two more quilt blocks.

They take a lot of time so I was considering

just taking the other two I did (as shown

earlier in this blog) to make a

small quilt…for now I am going to stick to

my original plan to make nine blocks.

Flowers

With the holidays over I am starting to do

more art work.  This is my first drawing of the new year.

This is showing the flower in card form.  It will be folded

down the middle with my logo on the back.

This is another version I did with photo shop

and layers.  It will also be folded down the middle as a card.

Dogbone cookies

I belong to a book club that my daughter

started.  If the book of the month was chosen

by you…you are responsible to bring refreshments.

My book this month was The Art of Racing in the Rain

by Garth Stein.  It is a wonderful book and I

recommend reading it even if you don’t like racing

or dogs.  Did I mention it is written from the perspective

of a dog.  Anyway my refreshment was dog bone cookies.

Sunset and Sunrise

The other evening I noticed the sun setting.

It was beautiful.  I tried to take a picture but missed it.

The next morning the sunrise was just as beautiful.

I took a picture out my kitchen window.

This is what I saw…minus the fact that you can

never really capture the beauty of a sunrise

with a camera.

A special room at the library

We continue to work on Amanda’s room at the library.

The butterflies and flowers are done.

Some work to do on the books…

They hung the picture of Amanda.

What a difference that makes.

Holiday Outfits

My daughter Kimberly wanted a  Christmas dress

for her  puppy Kat.  She wasn’t finding what she

wanted so I said…”I could probably make you something

if you found me a pattern.”  (I made many of their clothes

and their dolls’ clothes when they were little.)

So she found me a pattern and we picked out fabric.

Here is Kat in her new dress.  (She is the kind of

dog that seems to enjoy clothes)

I had some fabric left over so I made Cowboy

a bow tie.

Hope you are enjoying this festive season!!

Happy Holidays

Using these two pictures I drew

my Christmas card.

So to all of you from my elf dogs and me…

May the holidays

bring you lots

of reasons to smile!!

Happy whatever you celebrate!!

Goodbye said the angel

One moment in time can change your life forever.

A good friend of mine was driving home a month ago.

A car going the opposite direction hit her driver door

(she had fallen asleep at the wheel)

A pickup truck attempted to avoid the crash by leaving the

road.  The impact of the first crash pushed her car into the

truck.  She was air lifted to a major hospital and in

intensive care for a couple weeks.  She suffered 2

broken legs a broken arm and neck injury.

Even with all that she is in very good spirits when I visit her.

But why do these things happen?

She just as easily could have died.  So was she saved

by an angel…where was the angel two seconds earlier…

This collage is my attempt to understand this

event.  I still believe everything happens for

a reason but her life is changed forever.

Sunday football

It’s football season!  Even though I am not a

big football fan,  I love being with my family

Sunday afternoon while they watch.  To keep

myself entertained I do applique and bead

embroidery.  Here are two block I have completed.

Let go

My latest collage card is about  the  idea

of letting go, living in the moment….not

the past…not the future…just now.

I find that I am fighting the very notion of it…

although in my heart I know it is what I need to do.

Fuchsias to Faeries

I have often thought that fuchsia flowers

look like faeries.  That was my thought when I drew

this card.  Do you believe in faeries?

I did two other versions of the same theme.

These cards get folded in the middle so on

the front you only get a hint of the faerie.

This is a horizontal card.

This one is vertical.

Housewarming postcards

Tuesday my daughter asked me about invitations for

her house warming party.  I took the blueprint of her house porch

and added a balloon with time date address and directions on the back.

I made the blueprint green because her house is green.

By Friday I had 50 postcards printed for her.

I hope it doesn’t rain.

Cards to boxes

Once a month Gene and I go to a retirement

home and make cards with some of the people that

live there.  This month we made daisy cards then

folded them into boxes.

The wedding

My daughters’ wedding was a month ago today.

Seems like yesterday…seems like long ago.

My heart cries even as it laughs with joy.

What a bittersweet event a wedding is.

Here are a few photos taken by Red Stone studios.

They are a wonderful couple…I wish them nothing but the best!

As the door closes a window opens to a new day…

Dog in bunny costume

My daughter Kimberly has put a deposit on a

puppy.  We will be picking the puppy up the day

after the wedding.  So her Easter basket had this in it.
